North Texas Irish Festival

Welcome to NTIF 2012 - our 30th year

Over the past few years we've been both sides of the Atlantic searching out Irish music and musicians. We've hosted the music of Atlantic Canada, Scotland, Bluegrass, Immigrant America - but now we're coming home - to Ireland. The theme to the 2012 festival is Ireland, I am coming home, and we will be featuring some of the finest music and dance that Ireland has to offer.

There are few festivals that can boast the incredible musicians that the NTIF has brought to its audiences over the years. This year I believe we have outdone ourselves. "We want more Irish musicians" was a request that we have heard many times, and we really do listen. We also believe that traditional Irish music has had a great influence on the music this side of the pond, from Atlantic Canada all the way to the bayous of Southern Louisiana. But now we really are "going home" to Ireland. More exactly we are bringing Ireland to North Texas.

Just take a look at the lineup and see some of the great bands such as Altan, Tommy Sands, Cathie Ryan and Dervish who are appearing at NTIF for their second, third or even fourth time.

Saturday 10:00 - 5:00
Sunday 12:00 - 5:00

Address

Ingleside, TX

Directions:
Live Oak Park, 1874 Port Avenue
Ingleside, Tx

Off S FM 1069, 2.5 miles on Main Street from 361, left on Belair Avenue, right onto Parkview Place. Follow to the end.

The fairies have told us that the veil between worlds will be pulled back at Live Oak Park, so come and play in the Enchanted Forest before the veil falls back and the goblins and trolls retake the forest.

Hear ye! hear ye! A royal pageant the King decreed!! On the 2nd weekend in December the pageantry of a Renaissance Faire, celebrated in balmy South Texas, returns to the great oak forest of Ingleside. Nobles and plain folk will celebrate our historical and cultural roots from the 15th - 17th centuries. Guests partake of the folklore, the crafts, the history and the magic of these distant times. Come as you might have been in those days and enjoy the music, dance, food and the weather in our woods. Visit our craftsmen and merchants, cooks and artists or try your hand at feats of strength and skill.

Wizards and dragons, Lords and ladies, minstrels and fairies, players and actors will tread the boards, noble steeds and exotic creatures will gather to make merry and celebrate the season. This is a wonderful time to celebrate the Renaissance, which brought a rebirth of learning, arts, culture, and economy to the world. New ideas were born of a fascination with history, scientific curiosity, geography, evolving religious and political thought. The printing press fostered massive changes in society and education. Literacy became popular and profitable as more people learned to read and expanded their horizons. That expansion brought the first European settlers to the New World seeking spices, riches and conquest.
